LIVONIA, Mich. (Aug. 28, 2025) – A stolen Chevrolet Cruze was stopped in dramatic fashion Thursday morning after Michigan State Police troopers and Livonia officers worked together to end the chase on I-96.

According to MSP, troopers spotted the vehicle around 7:25 a.m. in Detroit before it sped westbound onto I-96. As the car entered Livonia, officers with the Livonia Police Department deployed a Grappler device —a netting tool designed to safely disable fleeing vehicles.

The device snagged the car, tearing off its rear axle as the suspect tried to continue fleeing. The driver and two passengers were taken into custody without injury.
