SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The Sevierville Police Department said it is investigating after a lifeguard died at a resort Thursday night.

According to SPD Public Information Officer Bob Stahlke, officers were called to the Resort at Governor's Crossing at 12:24 p.m. Thursday regarding an emergency at the indoor pool.

Stahlke said the on-duty lifeguard, Colden Riner, 21, had reportedly fallen into pool and was unresponsive. Lifesaving efforts were ongoing when emergency personnel arrived. Riner was transported to LeConte Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

SPD said the investigation is on going and an autopsy will be performed.
