A food truck owner has hit out at Glasgow City Council after a council van crashed into the parked truck at the Barras Market .

Marta Negro, co-founder of Planet G vegan food truck, says the crash left the business unable to trade for more than six months — and that her business is now at risk. Marta founded the Edinburgh-based business with partner Gemma Costa in January 2024, and it quickly became a hit, winning the top prize at the Scottish Street Food Awards in July.

But the brakes were slammed on days before Christmas. On December 21, 2024, while the van was set up at a busy pre-Christmas Barras Market, a Glasgow City Council van collided with the food truck and damaged the serving hatch — while Gemma was working inside the van.
