TOWAMENCIN – Council Rock South’s Hail Mary was answered but the North Penn football team ended up getting a reprieve.

With the Knights holding on to a seven-point lead in the Thursday night’s final seconds, South quarterback Marley Emerson launched a throw into the end zone, the ball dropping into hands of Dan Horn along the right sideline.

A miraculous 40-yard touchdown as time expired to have the Golden Hawks an extra point away from tying the game? No. Before Emerson got off his pass, a penalty flag was tossed – a holding call on CR South negating the play.

“I kind of looked at it, just was in awe,” North Penn senior Matthew Pownall said. “And then I looked back and heard the whistles.”
