NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi is firing back against a former employee who claims that he was ordered to perform work on the mayor’s private properties while on the town’s time, according to newly filed court documents.

In June, former town worker Michael Charbatji leveled a whistleblower lawsuit against Lombardi and other town officials in R.I. Superior Court. Charbatji alleged he was regularly directed to work on personal properties belonging to both the mayor and the public works director, James Fuoroli, during work hours.
