Number of people homeless hits a record high of more than 16,000 last month

The number of people homeless in Ireland has increased for the seventh consecutive month this year, with a record high of 16,058 men, women and children in emergency accommodation last month, according to new figures from the Department of Housing.
This is an increase of 143 people for July 2025 on the 15,915 people homeless in June.
The figures show that homelessness has risen 11pc in the last year when compared with July 2024.
There are now 5,014 children in 2,343 families homeless.
