FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky and 22 other states won a legal challenge to secure all of the AmeriCorps funding the Trump Administration tried to cut, according to Governor Andy Beshear.
Beshear said the win will restore the rest of the more than $9 million in funds appropriated by Congress to support Kentucky's AmeriCorps service commission, Serve Kentucky, which helps with things like housing developments, the fight against hunger, family support, education and disaster relief.
The lawsuit was filed in April and in June the states got an injunction to stop the federal government from canceling $400 million worth of AmeriCorps programs, according to Beshear.
