PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - Kroger, Fred Meyer’s parent company, is set to lay off hundreds of its administrative employees nationwide, with as many as 100 in Portland.
The layoffs come after an announcement in June on plans to shutter 60 stores across the country .
Last month, it was announced the Gateway Fred Meyer would close for good in September. Another store in Tacoma also closed its doors.
Kroger says it’s all part of simplifying its organization and making changes to its administrative structure.
