After a successful spell with the Prince Albert Celtics, Jhoan Sanchez is ready for the next level.

The St. Mary High School graduate is the lone player from Prince Albert on the University of Saskatchewan men’s soccer team roster. Sanchez said he’s eager for a new start with a new program.

“I’m excited,” said Sanchez. “It’s the first year and (I’m) hearing good things. I’m excited to play. I’m just thankful to be here.”

Sanchez is in his first year studying Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan. He hopes to eventually graduate from the school’s nursing program.

On the soccer pitch, he’s looking to establish himself on a team that struggled last season, finishing 3-10-1 and finishing tied for last in Canada West’s Prairie Division.
