West Dunbartonshire councillors are set to start a new witch hunt as they look to honour local women wrongly persecuted for witchcraft in the 17th century.
A motion to Remember the Accused Witches of West Dunbartonshire was presented to elected members at this week’s full council meeting by SNP councillor Chris Pollok to recognise and pay tribute to the women and men accused of being a witch in the area.
The local authority will work with Scottish charity , Remembering the Accused Witches of Scotland, to teach the stories and history of the victims in schools and libraries and where possible, raise a memorial to commemorate them.
