A man has been jailed for indecently assaulting a child in the 1990s.

Kevin Toplass was brought in for questioning after his victim came forward in 2022 and informed Staffordshire Police that he had been sexually attacked in the 1990s.

An investigation was started with Toplass at first denying the allegations.

Detectives in the force's Public Protection Unit worked tirelessly to gather all of the available evidence, resulting in Toplass being charged with a count of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14.

Toplass, 66, of Trentham, admitted the offence at Stoke-on-Trent Court and on Thursday (August 28), he was sentenced to three-years-and-four-months in prison.
