WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. — Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin described NASA Wallop's new aerospace academy as a "gateway to the future" after Thursday's ribbon-cutting on the Eastern Shore.
The Aerospace Academy of the Eastern Shore will operate at NASA Wallops Flight Facility. The lab school provides aerospace-specific coursework in engineering and data sciences, partnering with Accomack and Northampton County Public Schools, Eastern Shore Community College and Old Dominion University.
“These students will be immersed in Virginia’s aerospace sector and launch into careers that will shape the skies and beyond," said Governor Glenn Youngkin. "Our mission since day one has been not only to prepare students for the future, but to empower them to lead it.”
