When LBJ Elementary Principal Zenovia Crier arrived at the school in 2021, it was an F rated campus under state accountability standards.

It is now a B rated school with three state distinctions from the Texas Education Agency, Crier said. The campus was a C last year.

“The goal, of course, is to be an A,” Crier said.

The distinctions are in post secondary, comparative growth top 25 percent and closing the gaps top 25 percent.

To make improvements, Crier said they first had to find the right teachers and staff who were dedicated to making the campus “move.”

The teacher interview process was extensive. They did multiple interviews and had to model a lesson.
