CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - At the annual SOAR Summit conference in Corbin, Gov. Andy Beshear and U.S. Congressman Hal Rogers announced nearly $26 million in federal funding for 15 projects across 11 counties in Eastern Kentucky.
The funding comes from the Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization Program, which is designed to support education, health care, infrastructure, and tourism in coal-impacted communities. Officials said the projects will help create or retain more than 3,500 jobs, train up to 1,200 Kentuckians each year, and improve quality of life for thousands of families.
