8 ON YOUR SIDE CONSUMER ALERT: Nearly three million electric motors for attic fans are being recalled over a fire risk.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the electric motor safety cutoff for the fans could short-circuit and cause a fire.

It says there have been 159 reports of burning or fires. There are no reports of injuries.
The fans were sold nationwide from 2003 to 2013 in stores and online.
If you have a recalled fan motor, stop using it immediately and contact the distributor, Air Vent, for a refund.
