Authorities have shut down the area around a gas station in Westchester County and told people to expect a large law enforcement presence, as they look for potential suspects following an attempted armed robbery.
Mount Vernon police say officers assigned to Bronx Auto Larceny in the city were headed back to their command shortly before 6 a.m. Friday when they saw two men fitting the description of suspects wanted in a gas station robbery. A foot pursued, then one of the suspects allegedly fired a shot at the officers.

No officers were hurt. They returned fire, Mount Vernon police say. The suspects ran off. It's not clear how many shots police fired or if one of the suspects was hurt.
