The Crown attorney’s office is appealing the acquittal of Chau Lam and Hue Lam and is seeking a new first-degree murder trial for the two Vietnamese sisters who killed their mother after suffering years of abuse. Article content

Chau Kanh Lam and her sister, Hue Ai Lam, were charged with first-degree murder in the death of their mother, Kieu Lam, in October 2022. Both sisters won a full acquittal after the jury returned with a not-guilty verdict Aug. 3 following a seven-week trial in Ottawa’s Superior Court. Article content Article content
