WATERVILLE, Maine — The Ticonic Bridge connecting Waterville and Winslow will close to all traffic for more than a month starting Sept. 29 as part of a $52.8 million replacement project.
The bridge, which carries Route 201 over the Kennebec River, will shut down at midnight on Sept. 29 and will remain closed until 6 a.m. Nov. 1 to allow crews full access for demolition and construction, the Maine Department of Transportation said on its website .
During that time, no vehicles or pedestrians will be allowed on the bridge. Vehicles will be detoured south via the Carter Memorial Bridge, and pedestrians will be directed north to the Two Cent Bridge. Message boards will alert drivers of the closure, according to MaineDOT.
