DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - After 12 years in Congress, U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst will not seek a third term, according to reports from CNN.
Ernst, from Red Oak, Iowa, has represented Iowa in Washington D.C., since 2014.
Since then, Ernst, herself a combat veteran, has been supportive veterans. She also spoke up the for agriculture industry, including efforting a bill that would ban foreign ownership of farmland.
She is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee.
Most recently, she’s taken up the mantle for wasteful federal spending by investigating and presenting her evidence to legislators.
Her seat was the talk of Democrats after Catelin Drey won a state senate seat, breaking the Republicans supermajority in the state senate.
