Rangers are reportedly close to landing Derek Cornelius from Marseille. ‌

The Canada international operates at centre-back and would bring experience to Russell Martin's back line. ‌

The 27-year-old has played for the likes of Malmo and Vancouver Whitecaps but is currently on the books of the Ligue 1 big hitters. ‌

He was an unused sub in the league opener at Rennes before a late cameo for the final minute of the big win over Paris FC.

Last season he featured in 21 Ligue 1 matches with two further outings in the French Cup.

His contract at Marseille runs for another three seasons but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims he is on the verge of making the move to Ibrox with a medical set to take place in Paris. ‌

Cornelius currently has 35 caps for his national team.
