AUSTINTOWN A driver in Austintown has been cited after police say he struck a cruiser when he ran a stop sign Friday morning.

According to a crash report, the accident happened just before 9 a.m. Friday at the intersection of New Road and Turner Road and involved a 2007 Chevrolet Impala and an Austintown Police Department cruiser.

The report states that the cruiser stopped at the stop sign at the intersection and began turning left onto New Road when the Chevy struck the cruiser on the rear left side.

Police say the officer tried to avoid the accident, but couldn't. Neither the officer nor the Chevy driver was injured.

According to the report, the Chevy driver, identified as 33-year-old Damaigne Carr, told police he applied the brakes and slid through the intersection. Police say
