STILWELL, Kan. —

The principal at Blue Valley Middle School alerted parents and families that a gun was discharged in the parking lot Thursday evening.

No one was hurt, and the situation was reported to law enforcement. Officers immediately responded and are investigating the incident as a "possible accidental discharge."

No other details were provided on the circumstances or who fired the gun.

"We recognize that this may have been an upsetting experience for those who were present, and we are especially mindful of the students who may have seen or heard things that caused alarm," a message to football families said.
