GASSAWAY, W.Va. (WV News) — Mountaineer Food Bank is urging West Virginians to unite and take action against hunger during Hunger Action Month in September. The call to action comes as food insecurity in America has reached its highest rate in over a decade, affecting more than 47 million people, including 14 million children.
Mountaineer Food Bank CEO Chad Morrison stated that Hunger Action Month highlights the challenges faced by neighbors and the critical role the community plays in meeting those needs.
"Continued support from donors, partners, and volunteers makes it possible for us to provide hope and nourishment throughout the year," Morrison said.
