University of Nottingham staff have voted for strike action against job cuts that are being made while "extremely concerning" amounts of money are spent on a new campus. Earlier this year the Russell Group university said it wanted to cut more than 356 roles after bosses concluded that a £40 million planned reduction in spending and the sale of its Kings Meadow Campus would not be enough to stabilise its struggling finances.
More than 280 staff have already taken voluntary redundancy as part of its "Future Nottingham" restructuring , but UoN has not ruled out compulsory redundancies to reach the number of targeted job cuts, and Unison's counter-proposals have only saved five roles. Workers re
