AUSTIN, Texas — On Friday morning, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said he has signed House Bill 4, which redraws the state's congressional districts.

The governor posted a video on his X account , saying, "Today, I signed the One Big Beautiful Map. This map ensures fairer representation in Congress. Texas will be more RED in Congress."

The newly signed law will shift districts in Austin, Houston, North Texas and the Rio Grande Valley, in hopes of creating five more Republican seats in the U.S. House.

On Tuesday, The NAACP filed an injunction seeking to block the state's new map , arguing that it undermines Texas' redistricting process and disenfranchises voters of color.
