PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Authorities are warning of a new scam impersonating Oregon attorneys -- scamming some Oregonians out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

On Friday, the Oregon Department of Justice issued a warning about the scam after two reported cases in the state.

In the first case, a fraudulent website impersonating an Oregon attorney scammed victims out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

According to the Oregon DOJ, one victim obtained the “’attorney’s’” information through someone she met on the Hinge dating app. Officials said the woman believed the scammer was a real attorney who offered investment services – transferring funds to him believing she would receive returns.
