(WPTA) - Testing for mosquito-borne illnesses in Indiana began in early July.
Since then, mosquito pools throughout 21Country have tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
One of the latest detections of the disease in 21Country comes from Steuben County, where four mosquito pools tested positive for the virus at the end of July.
While the Indiana Department of Health says there are no human cases of West Nile Virus in northeast Indiana, the agency notes that mosquitoes will remain active in the community while temperatures remain above 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
Until the fall and winter seasons, the widespread risk of mosquito bites and the possibility of humans contracting West Nile Virus are possible.
