DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - With the school year back in full swing for Iowa students Pleasant Valley Superintendent Brian Strusz sat down with Quad Cities Today to break down the excitement.

Strusz said the biggest takeaway of the week so far has been the eagerness surrounding the new year.

“A new school year always brings new opportunities for kids,” he said. “They can come back, and it’s a new start. Not many times in life do you get a new start every single year, but in education you do.”

Strusz also touched on Pleasant Valley’s cellphone policy implementation and said consistency between teachers is key to its success.

Pleasant Valley is set to take on Bettendorf on Friday, and Strusz said a pep talk for students is centered around opportunity.
