Erykah Badu has blamed The Alchemist for the delay in releasing their collaborative project.

On Instagram Live, just hours before the scheduled release of Abi & Alan, Badu revealed that fans would have to wait a little bit longer for the project.

She said: “The Alchemist told me to tell y’all the album is not dropping at midnight.”

Badu did not reveal a new release date for the album.

The iconic singer announced the unexpected collaboration in March.

Badu and the legendary producer first teased a collab back in December 2024, when Alc posted a series of photos showing them in the lab.

He captioned the montage “Life altering,” but didn’t elaborate any further as to what they were working on.

Erykah Badu’s last studio album was March 2010’s New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh),
