Months of preparation went into the proposal, which was presented by FieldHaven executive director Makenna Gwaltney and Dr. Jen Netherwood on Thursday night's city council meeting, according to a spokesperson with Fieldhaven.
The case was strengthened by community backing, which included 15 letters of support from veterinary hospitals, rescues, local organizations and residents.
"This approval is more than just a green light for our clinic -- it's a statement that our community is ready to take bold action for animals and families in need," Gwaltney said.
