Police in suburban Joliet asked residents to avoid the area of an "active incident” as officials investigate Friday.
Around 1:30 p.m. Friday, police asked residents to avoid the area of an incident on the 900 block of Ann Street "to allow police and fire personnel access for their equipment."
A shelter in place alert was also issued for the area, though it was lifted around 3 p.m. when police said the scene was secured.
Joliet police are continuing to investigate the incident and said they will remain on scene, though they did not specify for how long.
"This is an ongoing investigation and very fluid," police said.
Police asked that only residents of the 900 block of Ann Street be in the area.
One person is in custody, police said, though they did not specify any details regarding wh
