OWENSBORO, Ken. (WFIE) - The Owensboro Fire Department reported one person has died after an apartment fire last night.

Officials say an apartment caught fire around midnight in the 3900 block of Evergreen Drive.

They say Owensboro Police Department arrived first and pulled a person out of the burning apartment.

As fire fighters worked to stop the fire from spreading to other units, the resident who was rescued was taken to the hospital then transferred to a specialized burn care unit in Louisville.

They died from their injuries today.

No other injuries were reported.

The person’s name has not yet been released.

Authorities say the fire is still under investigation.
