WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - With school starting up again next week, enrollment at Jeff-Lewis BOCES is up once again.
BOCES superintendent Stephen Todd says enrollment has grown over the last five years.
“Five years ago - and for most years prior to that - we we’re somewhere around a thousand to a thousand 50 juniors and seniors who came to us for half a day. And now we’re going to welcome 1,580 students,” Todd said.
Welding and electrical work are the areas where BOCES is seeing the biggest increase in students. The programs are so popular that BOCES needed more space in its building on outer Arsenal Street. So this fall, BOCES is moving its medical career classes to downtown, leasing the first floor of the newly renovated Globe mini-mall building.
