A woman is suing rideshare platform Lyft after she said she was raped by a driver during a ride in Charlotte in February 2024.

The civil lawsuit, filed in federal court on Wednesday, said the woman's boyfriend had ordered a ride for her after she had been drinking. She blacked out during the ride and awoke to the driver reportedly assaulting her. She was able to escape to her home, running for about a quarter of a mile. The woman said her clothing was torn, noting that her pants were cut in the center.
