LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A judge sentenced Leslie Buck, 25, of Lansing to two years of probation and conditional jail time Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to submitting fraudulent grant applications to the state.

According to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, Buck was charged in December for submitting fake Growing MI Business Grant applications to the state.

The grant program is designed to distribute up to $409 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to eligible businesses who experienced financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Buck pleaded guilty in June to seven counts of perjury and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.
