EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A city police oversight committee meeting Friday evening will review reports from a "disruptive" weekend downtown, as advocates support three people planning to file complaints against the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD).

ELPD said officers responded to several incidents, made multiple arrests and filed a felony charge against a 21-year-old man for carrying a concealed weapon after an incident involving a knife.

Nadia Sellers, founder of the Honey Bear Project, said she plans to attend the meeting with three people who intend to file complaints about police conduct. She described her organization as a social justice program aimed at empowering mid-Michigan residents by addressing local needs and promoting equality.
