PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A beloved colleague and pioneer in the Arizona journalism industry has passed away.
Family members shared that Frank Camacho, 75, died on Friday morning after a battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Laveen, Camacho began his career in radio at KRUX in 1975 and KTAR in 1978 before transitioning to television. He went on to break barriers in local journalism, becoming one of Arizona’s first Hispanic news anchors. Camacho spent over 30 years with KTVK and KPHO as a reporter, anchor and the first host of “Politics Unplugged.”
Camacho brought viewers the Valley’s biggest stories and interviewed some prominent political figures, including U.S. Presidents Gerald Ford and Barack Obama, during his distinguished on-air career.
Outside of the anchor desk, Camacho was a life
