The Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education on Thursday, Aug. 28, approved a resolution to begin considering proposals to develop a portion of the closed Linda Vista Elementary School site for joint occupancy.

The resolution passed 5-2, with board members Kimberly Kenney and Yarma Velazquez voting no.

Approval now opens the door for PUSD to consider requests for proposals, or RFPs, from potential developers.

Linda Vista Elementary School closed its doors in 2006, and the move comes after months of considerations from PUSD’s board this year to revamp the property in order to generate revenue for students’ needs and engage the local community in the process.

The nearby Linda Vista Park is under a joint-occupancy agreement with the city of Pasadena.
