ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — United States Marshals, along with members of the Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force, recovered a child who had been missing for nearly 17 months on Thursday.

According to a release, in April of 2024, the 15-year-old girl was reported missing to the Cocoa Police Department. They then requested assistance from the United States Marshal Service after the Florida Department of Children and Famlies expressed concerns for the welfare of the child.

The release by the United States Marshals Service said that the teen had a history of interference with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and she is also a verified victim of human trafficking. The department also disclosed that the teen had a pending arrest warrant.
