ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 15-year-old girl was finally located in Central Florida this week after being missing for nearly 17 months, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

In a release, officials explained that the girl had been reported missing in April 2024 to the Cocoa Police Department, which roped in the U.S. Marshals Service to help locate her whereabouts.

They did not release her name.

“The Florida Department of Children and Families had significant concerns for the safety and welfare of the recovered child,” the release reads.

However, investigators added that the girl had a history of “various interfaces” with the Department of Juvenile Justice, and she is also a verified human trafficking victim.
