GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Drivers heading into Labor Day weekend are getting some welcome relief at the pump.
According to GasBuddy, the national average price for gasoline is expected to be around $3.15 per gallon, 14 cents lower than last year’s holiday weekend and the lowest Labor Day price since 2020.
The drop caps off the cheapest summer for gas in five years, though some drivers in eastern North Carolina say prices still feel unpredictable.
“Gas prices today are up 20 to 30 cents from the last time I purchased, so we will have to come back here after Labor Day and just see,” Greenville resident Kim Bogue said.
