WINOOSKI, Vt. (WCAX) - Community members were left disturbed and shaken by a disturbing road rage case where the victim’s eyes were gouged out.

It happened in Winooski on Malletts Bay Avenue near Pine Street around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim, Ronnie Bushway II, 46, told police he was driving when the suspect’s car started to tailgate him.

Police say Aaron Williams, 44, of Shelburne, passed Bushway’s vehicle, brake-checked him and the cars might have made contact. Then, police say Williams got out of his car, punched Bushway several times, gouged his eyes and fled.

Investigators say Bushway has severe eye injuries and still can’t see. Court paperwork indicates one of his eyes, possibly both, may need to be removed.

Williams was arrested on Thursday at his workplace in Burlington. He
