EUGENE, Ore. - A Eugene man has been arrested on serious charges related to child sex abuse, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD officials said the arrest followed a cyber tip and subsequent investigation by the Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit. Police executed a search warrant on Aug. 29 on 45-year-old Larry Wayne Merrill's vehicle and residence in northeast Eugene. Merrill was arrested and will be taken to the Lane County Jail where he will face 10 counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse.
The investigation into Merrill's activities is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming. The Eugene Police are part of a regional Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce. This national program focuses on preventing cybercrimes against children and includes over 5,40
