WILKES-BARRE — The 2009 rape case surrounding Joseph Marcy, formerly of Edwardsville, was brought back to the Luzerne County Courthouse on Friday afternoon, as the victim — then a 6-year old girl — has recanted her initial testimony from 2011.

The post-conviction relief hearing came at the recommendation of retired Luzerne County Senior Judge Joseph M. Augello, who first sentenced Marcy in 2011.

Marcy, who was sentenced to 2o to 40 years in state prison, appeared over Zoom before Judge Michael T. Vough on Thursday. Marcy is being held at State Correctional Institution — Graterford in Montgomery County, and was represented in court by Attorney Leonard Gryskewicz Jr.
