Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services have charged a man in connection with a homicide on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation.

On Aug. 24 at around 8:50 p.m., Manitoba First Nation Police Service officers were called to a residence where a man was found dead. Due to the nature of the injuries, RCMP Major Crime investigators were brought in to lead the case. An autopsy later confirmed the death was a homicide.

Police determined the 34-year-old victim had been socializing with three people when an altercation occurred, and he was shot.

On Aug. 27, officers arrested 27-year-old Wyatt Campbell in Moose Lake without incident. He has been charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody awaiting a court appearance.
