After 15 years tending to the playing surface at Parkview Field, TinCaps head groundskeeper Keith Winter will retire after Sunday’s home finale against the Dayton Dragons.
Winter followed a 25-year career in television with 19 years in groundskeeping, a passion born out of watching his three sons playing baseball in high school and college, before deciding last fall that 2025 would be his final season.
“I’m 67 years old, and it’s just time to stop working these hours,” Winter said. “It’s a decision I’ve been really at peace with most of this season.”
Winter joined the TinCaps a year after Parkview Field opened in 2009, seeing over time how the stadium and the TinCaps helped grow downtown Fort Wayne. Parkview Field was selected as the Midwest League field of the year from 2011 to 2014. T
