LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - City Hall Chambers were filled this morning as officials proclaimed that September is Suicide Awareness Month.
September is intended to be a big month for the Suicide Prevention Advisory Committee as they plan to host multiple events throughout the month.
So far this year, 15 people have taken their lives in Laredo. Officials also reminded the public that they can call 988 when facing mental and emotional health struggles. The line is available in both English and Spanish.
September 6 will be an opportunity for the community to band together, there will be 5K Run/Walk at North Central Park in efforts to help combat the issue of suicide.
