The annual Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off did not quite launch into action on Friday after a low cloud ceiling grounded balloons but did allow for them to inflate during the media day event.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo is forecasting dry weather for the 7 a.m. launches at Memorial Park on Sunday and Monday. There is a slight chance for rain in the early morning Saturday and thunderstorms later in the morning and afternoon.
The Weather Service forecasts around 0.25 inches of rain Saturday, mostly in the afternoon, which could add to the 2.53 inches of rain that has fallen in Colorado Springs in the previous five days.
