LAURENS COUNTY, Ga. — This week's Top Teacher is so special, a former student nominated her!

Ms. Caitlin Bassett has been teaching for three years, and this is her second year at West Laurens Middle School. She teaches sixth-grade science, and her students love her so much, one of her former students nominated their teacher a year later.

Tykiara Williams had Ms. Bassett last year in sixth grade and said the impact she left on her is strong. Williams wrote us, wanting her to be honored.

"On the last day of school, I broke down crying because she was like a mother to me," Tykiara said. "I could not imagine going a whole summer without her."

Tykiara said she thought about Ms. Bassett all summer and talked about her every day.
