MAZOMANIE, Wis. -- The Dane County Sheriff's Office has deemed a death in the Town of Mazomanie late Thursday night as "suspicious" and is investigating the matter as a homicide.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 9800 block of Dunlap Hollow Road at around 11:45 p.m. Thursday for an EMS assist.

Upon arrival, the sheriff's office determined the death as suspicious, and sheriff's office staff have been actively investigating this incident as of Friday morning.

In an update Friday, the Dane County Sheriff's Office said a 70-year man was found inside a home after he failed to show up for dinner with loved ones and was unable to be reached by phone. His 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe was not at the home and could not be accounted for.
